Arranging a Direct Cremation - making decisions

Working through what is right for you and your family

So, you are thinking about a Direct Cremation? To help you reach the decision on what is right for you we would ask you to consider the questions outlined below.

If you decide on a Direct Cremation then please take a look at our 'Step by step' guide which explains all the stages from the death needing to be certified to the notification of important organisations.

The Little Funeral Company specialises in providing high quality Direct Cremations, so talk to our friendly staff today. The Little Funeral Company is both local and family owned, a name that you can trust.

If instead you decide that you would prefer a more traditional funeral service then again we can help. the Little Funeral Company is fully owned and operated by A & A Walters, an independent family Funeral Directors owned by the Walters family since 1850. Either way you are in safe hands.

Important questions to consider about 'Direct Cremations'

  1. Did the person who has died say that they wanted a cremation rather than a burial? Is there a Will that sets out the person's wishes?
  2. Are you aware of the difference between a 'Direct Cremation' and a 'Traditional Cremation' and that 'Traditional Cremations' can still be quite simple, but the difference being that a simple traditional funeral is one that people can attend? Find out the difference between 'Direct' and 'Traditional' funerals here.
  3. Are you aware that with a 'Direct Cremation' there will be no funeral procession and rather than a hearse, a discreet, specialised funeral vehicle will be used?
  4. Are you aware that with an 'Unattended Direct Cremation' there will be no funeral service for people to attend?*
  5. Are you aware that with an 'Unattended Direct Cremation' there will not be the option to see the person who has died in the Chapel of Rest?*
  6. Are you aware that the Cremated Remains will be scattered in the Crematorium Garden of Remembrance? (but can be returned to family for an additional charge)

* available as upgrade options on the 'Enhanced Direct Cremation' provided by the Little Funeral Company
